Comprehensive sick pay insurance for contractors

Periods of sickness will have an impact on the livelihood of most people, however, contractors in particular will feel a significant strain on their income if they are unable to work due to illness.

To ensure that contractors registered with Sterling are consistently supported throughout their contracting career, we have partnered with leading medical insurance provider, ESMI, to offer our contractors comprehensive sick pay insurance.

How does sick pay insurance work?

Should you find yourself unable to work due to illness for thirty consecutive days, ESMI’s Sick Pay Plan will provide contractors with a replacement tax-free income of up to £2,000 per month, for up to six months.

There are four levels for contractors to choose from (£500, £1,000, £1,500 or £2,000). Contractors must be aged between 18 and 62 to be eligible to sign up for sick pay insurance, however once registered, contractors can renew the policy until their 69th birthday. ESMI’s cover will pay up to a maximum of 85% of contractor income, with the additional option of adding a partner to the policy.
