With the date for IR35 changes fast approaching, many of our agency partners are busy preparing their business for how these changes will impact their current processes, and what they can do to ensure they are compliant with this legislation.
What are the changes to IR35?
The changes to IR35 will impact medium and large agencies working in the private sector, who, from April 2020, will be responsible for determining the IR35 status of a contractor. Read more about IR35 and the upcoming changes here.
For the majority of agencies, most of whom will have never had to deal with IR35 prior to these changes being implemented, a great deal of preparation is necessary to ensure that they are fully compliant, as well as to avoid the issues that businesses faced when these same changes were implemented into the public sector.
How is Sterling supporting agencies?
Here at Sterling, we are dedicated to ensuring that our agency partners are confident in their ability to implement IR35 into their existing processes and amend said processes where necessary to ensure compliance.
After meeting with a number of our clients, we recognised a need amongst the recruitment industry for guidance and training on IR35, and therefore over the coming months, we will be running workshops for recruiters to help them understand this legislation better and how they can prepare for next year’s reforms.
What will we cover?
During our workshop we will cover:
- The history of IR35
- Reasons behind the reforms
- How changes impacted the public sector
- What these changes mean for recruiters
- How to correctly determine an IR35 status
- The implications of an incorrect decision
- And more
